Today I went through chapters 4 and 5 again using both the slides and the book. I ran into a small little mistake doing 4, which I quickly found and added my own comment in the slides, as it wasn’t anything too big. I also looked more at the electronics that I received from Dr. McColgan yesterday, and watched some more videos on FPGA just to understand more of the code I’m doing.
I worked on the Chapter 9 tutorial and experimented with the audio output on the Basys board. The audio output from the Chapter 8 exercises is sped up because of the Basys board's faster clock. Setting the prescaler to be higher can offset this speed up. In my search for good project ideas I found a couple of pretty cool videos on how FPGAs are being used. There is an open source project for a video game emulator that is reviewed on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJZwMUaJmc0 I plan on finishing Ch 9 and adding some notes on Ch 8, other than that I plan on checking out some C code resources
I spent my day redoing chapter 5 and fixing my code for chapter 6. I finally got both to work. I looked at some videos for some games on the GPFAs too.
I went through Digilents Microblaze tutorial and completed it I think, but have yet to actually try it out with any program or C code. I also went through a Pmod tutorial using the Amp2 I found from the Instructables website. It was pretty simple, but a good test for the amplifier and they explained what happened in the code at each step.
I completed Chapter 7, and I started creating a small tutorial for that chapter, in case anyone runs into some issues. I also took a deep look at Chapters 8 or 9, searching up terms and trying to take a deep look at what was actually being done in those chapters.
