I started the MicroBlaze design following the tutorial on the link that Brandon posted. I stopped at step 4.11 because I couldn't match my diagram with the diagram given. I redid the previous steps to see if that would help but it didn't. I spent some time looking over chapter 8 and 9 but haven't had a change to run them on Vivado. Hopefully I can do that tomorrow and also test the keypad with the basys 3.
I went through Chapter 9 and did all the exercises, quite a bit of troubleshooting to get it to work with the 100 MHz Basys 3 clock and higher video resolutions, I managed to get it to work through this link:
Otherwise, I can't get the image example to work because it's a resolution that's incompatible with the Basys 3 clock. I'll see if I can get a python code to work. I'll make a tutorial on Chapter 9 because there's a more complicated process to making it work on the Basys board.
I went through Chapter 6 going through the book first and then following Evan's slides. I'm getting much better at translating the book over to vivado. I also got the Pmods and did some experimenting with those for a little.
I spent most of my time messing around with the Pmods and looking for beginner tutorials for those. I also ready through chapters 7, and 8, and started going through chapter 7 in Vivado alongside the book.
